On the road again, the Yankees travel for a stint in the West coast, beginning with a three-game set against the Oakland A’s. The Yankee offense picked it up slightly in their last game against the Royals, but it seems like they still don’t have any offensive consistency this season. Still seeking a win-streak longer than four games, maybe the Yankees can find their swings in the West Coast sunshine.
Ivan Nova gets the start tonight for the Yankees and hasn’t had the same success in May as he did in April. With a record of 1-2 on the month, Nova seems to be lacking control as he’s giving up a lot of runs, hits, and homers. However he is recording an abundance of strikeouts, which he’ll try to continue doing again in this start to help earn a win. Nova needs a solid outing when he throws tonight in order to turn around his May misfortune as the second month of baseball comes to a close.
For the Athletics, Tyson Ross gets the ball, and the month of May hasn’t been very kind to him either. He’s kept his ERA low in the last few starts, but is also 1-2 in May as he hasn’t gotten much run support to back him. Once again, it’s up to the bombers if they decide to play to their full potential at the plate or not tonight.
Both clubs are teetering on .500 records through the first quarter of the season so it will surely be a scrap between these teams as they try to gain some ground and get on some sort of a roll.
