Yankees Game 40 Lineup: 05/19/12

Andy Pettitte pulled the Yankees out of their three-game losing streak by putting on a lights-out performance on the mound last night, by giving the club eight shutout innings as they went on to win 4-0 over the Reds.

Ivan Nova gets the start this afternoon in pinstripes. In his last start, Nova suffered a sprained ankle after attempting to field a ground ball hit his way, but it is not expected to affect his appearance today. Nova has contributed pretty consistently so far, with a 4-1 record, despite giving up a lot of runs in his starts. He’ll look to provide the Yankees with another strong outing today and hopefully show that his minor injury is a non-factor.

Going for the Reds today, is righty Homer Bailey, who has struggled thus far. His 1-3 record and 4.35 ERA hasn’t helped his club much in 2012. The Yankees are still struggling to bring home runners in scoring position, but their four runs posted last night has been the team’s best in four games. They need to continue to improve in this area in order to loosen things up and lighten the stress that’s been on the shoulders of most of the Yankee lineup.

About Joseph Kringer Jr

Since I was old enough to put on a glove, I've had a strong passion for Yankee baseball. The game itself and Yankee pride is somewhat of a family tradition, a common bond shared by many generations. My love for the team has led me to find a new passion in writing. As an aspiring sports journalist, I look to provide the best New York Yankee baseball coverage for the fans out there who's lives revolve around this storied franchise as much as mine does.
