Yankees Set Rotation

Yankees manager Joe Girardi officially set the club’s five-man rotation on Monday. With right-hander Michael Pineda going on the 15-day disabled list with right shoulder tendinitis, it made the decision a lot easier for Girardi. Before Pineda went on the disabled list, Girardi had to choose from four starters (Phil Hughes, Ivan Nova, Freddy Garcia and Michael Pineda) who were fighting for the final three spots in the rotation.

C.C. Sabathia and Hiroki Kuroda had already secured a spot in the rotation before Monday’s announcement.

Here’s the Yankees five-man rotation:
LHP C.C. Sabathia
RHP Hiroki Kuroda
RHP Phil Hughes
RHP Ivan Nova
RHP Freddy Garcia

C.C. Sabathia will be the Opening Day starter for the Yankees when the club starts the 2012 season on the road against the Tampa Bay Rays at Tropicana Field. The Rays home opener is this Friday with a 3:10 p.m. EST., start.
