Michael Pineda Suffers Setback

Michael Pineda suffered a setback on his road to recovery today. Pineda was expected to throw two innings in an extended spring training game in Tampa, but it was cut short to just one inning after he experienced shoulder weakness.

Though the Yankees termed Pineda’s injury as mild inflammation in his right shoulder, Cashman said he’s “concerned because he still isn’t healthy.”

Pineda will see a physician on Monday in Tampa, and Yankees manager Joe Girardi said there is no timetable for Pineda’s return.

“I can’t tell you when we’re going to get him now,” Girardi said.
